Seeing Means More Than Safety by Jeromes Dream

02/03/2025

this album is an absolute favorite in emoviolence. tight, mathcore reminiscent instrumentals mixed with pure hardcore violence. the vocals are the most divise part, but personally i love how passionate the screeching is. in live recordings from this era, jeff doesnt use a microphone at all and you can still hear him scream through everything else. if i knew more about vocal techniques id probably cringe hearing it purely on the basis of how unhealthy this kind of screaming is (ive heard thru the grape vine hed cough up blood!!) but its still so powerful. the lyrics, though basically impossible to hear without reading them, are also great. theyre usually simple lines, but their standalone-ness emphasizes the emotional impact they carry. as jarring as it can sound, especially since something like half the album is noise or feedback, its one of the best hardcore experiences ever. that sounds soooo pretentious but trust me. cult classic for a reason. there arent a whole lot of bands that do this sound as well as them (...of death is one that does to me) but yeah!!

fav songs: life is what you make it, they're always so quick to judge, a present for those who are present
