i have a lot of history with this album. i first discovered gregory and the hawk when i was 13 or 14 or so, and listened to their albums front to back on the way to visit my grandparents for the summer. its hard to pick an album from her thats my favorite; each one has prats i like and my favorite songs, so its mostly a toss up. i think "in your dreams" is a good pick for this page though since its, at least now, one of her lesser appreciated ones. it combines leaning-on-abstract folk with twee pop in a way that pretty much encapsulates what i love about gath. this lp being entirely self-produced and fairly stripped-down compared to others makes it more unique for me, and it feels like we get more raw meredith out of it, just a young woman in her bedroom with her guitar. the best feeling i can give this is going through a dark magical forest, i always have that image in my head when listening. please check it out!!
